I decided to create a torrent for this good distro. In here, the
AstraLinux stable (2.12 - orel/common release) and ROSA image writer for Linux, mac and windows.
Installation is self-explanatory. If you need in depth answers,
the Red Book is a good place to find out anything. Scroll to the end of my article o install a browser translator tool if you need it. Options for hardened or generic kernel. Generic is probably what most people would want. After installing, set your firewall or set it up during installation.
Add Debian non-free the usual wayIt was necessary to temporarily add 'old stable' Debian repos to install MacBook Pro Wi-Fi firmware.
Disable these repos after installing whatever you need. It's best to stick to the Astra #
Linux repo for stability
Hotkeys for terminal are Meta+t (you can change it - search for fly hotkeys editor in the start menu)
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Then paste these in below those you find in there.
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stretch main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stretch-updates main contrib non-free
Now import the keys (this is still the way to do it until the end of Debian 11)
Do this, one command at a time, verifying that each key is properly imported.
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 648ACFD622F3D138
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0E98404D386FA1D9
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 605C66F00D6C9793
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 112695A0E562B32A
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 54404762BBB6E853
NB!! Be careful of breaking packages - check what is going to be removed before agreeing to install. Disable the repositories that you added. Enable them only when they're needed. Exercise caution - if some packages need to be removed to allow an installation from these sources, rather explore other solutions like building them from source.
